My early emails from MoveOn seemed, on the surface, very bottom-up empowering. They included questionaires along the lines of “rank these 10 issues in their importance to you” and “we can do either this or that with our funds, which would you rather?” I think emails like this went a long way towards building that 3.2 million email list. I never received questions like this from any political party I’ve ever been a member of.

The latest emails from MoveOn fall under the “marketing” heading mentioned in this article – I rarely even read them anymore. Just yesterday, July 28, the email is regarding funding a pro-Obama add on MTV and Comedy Central to offset the negative Obama add currently running on MTV. Whatever.

there are groups like Moveon.org that have built up an enormous capacity for pressure, but are using that enormous capacity as an appendage of the Democratic Party, regardless of whether Democrats use their congressional power to end the war.

Impeach Congress

Burn Down the House

442 House Seats up for election in 2008

435 Incumbent Representatives up for RE-election

IMPEACH THEM ALL!!!

Impeach them all and round up Bush’s “base”
some call them the elite…

but why harsh on a little old group of virtual insignificance like Move On (no offense Moby)
could it be because Herr Obama said no more cash to various dem outliers?

When Russ Feingold spoke out against 527s (which cropped up after his campaign finance law) like MoveOn — that was a nice Amy Goodman moment. This would also include Corporate Democrat “grassroots” movements like “AmericaVotes” and their environmental allies (like my employer, Clean Water Action).
