“It’s an obscene comparison, but there was a time in South Africa when people would put flaming tires around people’s necks if they dissented. In some ways, the fear is that you will be neck-laced here, you will have a flaming tire of lack of patriotism put around your neck,” Dan Rather said. Without his makeup, Rather looked drawn, old and defeated in confessing that he too had given in. “It’s that fear that keeps journalists from asking the toughest of the tough questions and to continue to bore in on the tough questions so often.”

yes, Dan, whateveh you say.

“Necklaced” .... haaahaahaa. Dan, losing your very well paid and very cushy job does not equal having a rubber tyre placed around your neck and set alight.

Thanks for the post, Anthony.

Of course you know that since you posted it, and the article implies that 911 was not a 100% government conspiracy, and that Osama bin Laden is not a US government sponsored operative/hoax, the majority of the information in this article will be discounted here. Oh well. Prepare for the onslaught of personal attacks that will be useless in evaluating the validity of the information presented.

all this article says is that there appears to be a conspiracy between members of the US ruling elite and members of the Saudi ruling elite.

I don’t think you’ll find many here that disagree with that thesis.

And:

that Osama bin Laden is not a US government sponsored operative/hoax,

where does the article say that? Cite plz.

My word was “implies”, not “says”. The article says that elements of the US government (specifically, the CIA and FBI) wanted to investigate Osama’s funding, while Presidential administrations gave orders to stand down. The implication is that Saudi’s are funding Osama (not the US government) and that Presidential adminsitrations are being influenced by business interests to quash investigations into this. Because they don’t want their business partners to be embarassed?

all this article says is that there appears to be a conspiracy between members of the US ruling elite and members of the Saudi ruling elite

Really, that’s all you see? You don’t really seem to be looking at the words I type in the first place, so I am not inclined to trust your impression of the article.

Palast’s story is plausible.

“What I was protesting was, in reality, an effort to bring recruits, rounded up by Osama bin Laden, to the United States for terrorist training by the CIA. They would then be returned to Afghanistan to fight against the then-Soviets.”

and

WAMY literature that talks about that “compassionate young man Osama bin Laden” is likely to have been disseminated, if not written, by our very own government. If Abdullah©s Bosnian-operated “charity” was funding Chechnyan guerrillas, it is only possible because the Clinton CIA gave the wink and nod to WAMY and other groups who were aiding Bosnian guerrillas when they were fighting Serbia, a U.S.-approved enemy.

dude seriously – where does Palast imply that

Osama bin Laden is not a US government sponsored operative/hoax,

Is Anthony Palast? Read my sentence again, and tell me what the object of the verb “implies” was.

If you’re implying that Anthony’s excerpts are misrepresenting Palast, then hooray for you – you’re finally onto something called “constructive criticism”. I’d like to read an entire article, though, considering up until now you’ve only proved to me that you have a humongous juvenile chip on your shoulder. Your excerpts may simply be taken out of context.

hey, Retardo? Care to answer the question I’ve asked you, like, twice now?

dude seriously – where does Palast imply that:
Osama bin Laden is not a US government sponsored operative/hoax,

the last time I asked you, you replied with

Is Anthony Palast?

which was just complete retardolike gibberish as far as I was concerned hence your current and future designation as ‘Retardo’
