Good Stuff! Someone needs to publish this on youtube.
Here’s the link for the media matters republish, but unfortunately it doesn’t have the Norman Solomon portion:

Here’s my favorite Glenn Beck rant, where he professes that the show “24” is real:

I recall Glen Beck, while being interviewed by Anderson Cooper in some odd CNN circle jerk, stating that the biggest threat to America today is “political correctness”.
I suppose I should have stuck around to hear his reasoning behind that statement, but I felt it would be more productive to go stare at a blank wall for the remaining 20 minutes of the program.

Do any of you really think that this means anything? Do you really think that someone as pathological as Beck would learn something from this? Do you really think that any of Beck’s viewers will change their minds about what they believe in over this?
Beck, as the rest of the right-wing TV/Radio-show hosts, is not a person of reason, not a person who is trying to learn, or trying to educate his viewers.
Nothing will come of this. Absolutley nothing.
All Solomon did was to give a liitle but of legitimacy to someone who does not deserve it.

“Norman, do you think if I got on as somebody who says I don’t know what we can do about global warming, I’m not sure man causes it, and I certainly don’t want to have laws and regulations on this, if I got on and said that but I was being — my corporate — my corporate parent was Exxon Mobil, do you think I’d get away with that for a second without that being on the front page of the New York Times?”
This is a standard argument that robots like Glenn Beck use. It is very recognizable. The New York Times certainly would not let them get away with it! Ha! Ha!

“Do you really think that someone as pathological as Beck would learn something from this?”
That’s not the point.
If this was just an untelevised discussion between the two, that would be another thing.
“All Solomon did was to give a liitle but of legitimacy to someone who does not deserve it.”
Actually he did what he set out for: he made an excellent argument for anyone who was watching and interested in learning something. I have no doubt that his lucid arguments got through to a few of the audience. It might be a little different if this was fox, where the audience is generally a bit more dogmatic…
Great stuff.
