The Syrian Army is preparing to retake the city of Homs. Because the rebel forces in Syria have been unable so far to raise support they have been continually losing ground to the Syrian Army. Syrian president Bashar al-Assad is said to be confident that his government will win as Western powers have been reluctant to join the fray. “I can say, without exaggeration, that the situation in Syria now is better than it was at the beginning of the crisis,” President al-Assad is quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
