Battle In Seattle
Headlines : Human Rights
Summary:

50 to 100 thousand strong joined in peaceful non-violent protest, no arrests, no rubber bullets, no tear gas, only peace and solidarity. This was by far the most people to ever take to the streets in San Diego. An amazing inspiring powerful event the really shows the unity and support here in the San Diego Community for immigration reform.

What touched me the most was I saw families picking up trash as they walked through the streets so as to not give the media an excuse to demonize the march.

The one correction to this article I would make is the counter-protest stated as 60 people was closer to 25.

“We are all in the same boat,” said Marcel Macado, 33, an immigrant from Brazil who marched with several compatriots. “We are all immigrants.”

The main focus of the march, organized by a coalition of community, labor and religious groups, was to protest a House bill approved in December that is seen by immigrant-rights advocates and many immigrants as overly punitive.

Among other things, House Resolution 4437 seeks to make it a felony to be in the…
