in fact, as a self-taught and self-styled cryptoarchaelogist, i suspect that the cavalry compounds and military forts we know about historically account for only a small fraction of the compounds and bases the blue-coats built out here in these vast and seemingly empty stretches of badlands. we know of quite a few massacres of native americans, ect., that took place historically, but i suspect that the worst cases are still hidden from the historical record. the land holds memories. such a bloody bloody history of conquest and colonization, genocide and assimilation.

The most important thing anyone can do these days is to have solid friends and GET TO KNOW THEM well enough to avoid what happened to SDS. Infiltrators tore it apart in Chicago ’69. Anyone caught in file photos from demonstrations, or with an internet trail through GNN and the like may need to get undercover one of these days. Between 200,000 and 400,000 youth and workers took to the streets on Tuesday, February 7, in 187 demonstrations in the main cities of France to protest against the First Job Contract (CPE—Contrat de première embauche). Figures given by the Ministry of the Interior indicated that students and youth made up just under half of the numbers on the protests, which were called jointly by the high school and university students unions and all the main trade unions. They were supported by the Socialist Party, the Communist Party (PCF) and the radical left parties.

After three years of losing money, Halliburton reported a hefty profit for 2005 and announced that all six of its divisions posted record results.
“The year 2005 was the best in our 86-year history,” Dave Lesar, Halliburton’s chairman, said Thursday.
The company posted a year-end profit of $2.4 billion, or $4.54 per share, on revenue of $21 billion.

ever get those email protest letters that tell you to stop buying gasoline for a week? what a joke right? well there could be another approach, since most of us still unfortunately drive carbon based combustion cars. target a single major oil company – say, shell and all of its “affiliates” (requires a bit of research of course) – then stop buying from that entity. the rest of the oil barons might actually get worried watching it go down. possible? well, not truly realistic. we would have to publicize the deal and that’s the problem – marketing. the best way would be to use a public forum, like, for example public television PBS. yes that’s right. weren’t we always told the revolution would be televised?
