Is Washington Planning a Military Strike on Iran?
Even experts in the West are skeptical of whether a military intervention against nuclear installations in Iran could succeed.
*In Case You Missed It: U.S. Military Declares Global Strike Capability*
[Posted By ShiftShapers]Republished from Spiegel Online
It’s hardly news that US President George Bush refuses to rule out possible military action against Iran if Tehran continues to pursue its controversial nuclear ambitions. But in Germany, speculation is mounting that Washington is preparing to carry out air strikes against suspected Iranian nuclear sites perhaps even as soon as early 2006.
German diplomats began speaking of the prospect two years ago – long before the Bush administration decided to give the European Union more time to convince Iran to abandon its ambitions, or at the very least put its civilian nuclear program under international controls. But the growing likelihood of the military option is back in the headlines in Germany thanks to a slew of stories that have run in the national media here over the holidays.
The most talked about story is a Dec. 23 piece by the German news agency DDP from journalist and intelligence expert Udo Ulfkotte. The story has generated controversy not only because of its material, but also because of the reporter’s past. Critics allege that Ulfkotte in his previous reporting got too close to sources at Germany’s foreign intelligence agency, the BND. But Ulfkotte has himself noted that he has been under investigation by…

This could be WWIII :(
Agreed, daij. This would be insanity.
An attack on Iran would set the already volatile middle east ablaze.
One thing I remember reading a couple of years ago (has it been that long?!) during the war in Iraq was that now the US has Iran surrounded – i.e. the US has troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well (I think) in Pakistan and Turkey too (not 100% sure, though) – so it’s something that may have been planned for, for quite some time.
Ah well. Happy new year everybody.
Yeah, it has probably been planned for a long time. They’ve been hinting at Iran ever since 9/11 and Bushs invention of the “axis of evil”.
I am curious about how they will get the public to support another war. The american people are not even keen on the war in Iraq these days. Will the old warslogans of WMDs and ties to Al-qaeda really be sufficient this time? A major hate-campaign in US and world media or another theatrical (WMD?) terrorist attack on american soil will probably be necessary to stimulate the will for war, if they at all care about such things as public opinion anymore. Either way, it’s high time to watch out for a new set of fabricated evidence and manipulated “intelligence”.
Let’s hope the claims from The American Conservative aren’t part of the neo-con plan.
Will congress approve a new war without another 9/11? Maybe the administration can somehow claim they have the authority to wage more wars on the powers they were given to avenge 9/11 or invade Iraq?
This will not be another war, if some Nato Members(and Israel) attack Iran. It will be sold to the public as a “surgical strike”, destroying the nuclear facilities and some “collaterals”.
and if that happens, there is one US diplomatic office in my hometown, they’ll hear me.
greetings mike
Absolutly!
The New World Order has plans to use the U.S. Miltary as Human Shield tools for a Mid East Security Zone.
As part of the U.S. contributions for a New World Order, it’s is a Club of Rome requirement that nations be policed by other foriegn nations as to inforce Global Laws!
If your not sure or believe that this is a war against indepentant nations drivin into the world government through force.
Get ready Amerika.
The Knights Templar of the Round Table New World order?
The president of the United States, and the Prime Minister of this country, and the President of Mexico, are in unison to bring these three countries as NO 1 of the world which is divided in 10 regions or kingdoms proposed by the Club of Rome. This was organized by the international bankers who want to see a one-world government controlled by them naturally.
The Club of Rome is composed of the world’s richest countries which number 7 or (G-7). Revelation 13:1 that these are 7 heads (Continents) and 10 kingdoms or crowns. With this in mind it is not surprising to see the unrest in this country. The international cartel of money lenders will bring about the unification of Canada, the United States, and Mexico as the NO 1 region of the world government.
Whether it is beneficial to this country or not it will come to pass as our national integrity is compromised by this huge national debt that we have accumulated since WW II. Now the banker’s cartel is in a position to tell us what to do. It is time for Canada to wake up before it is too late. The scheme was prepared laid out while we were asleep, and the actuation of the program is well under way. They used the unification of Europe as a smoke screen to further their aim in establishing the world government.
While Europe is important without a doubt it will only be a region in the world control system know as UNO.
2. The regions of the one world government are described as follow:
1 North America /Canada, United States, Mexico
2 Europe/ European countries
3 Japan/ Japan
4 Southern Australia, New Zealand, South Africa
5 Russia/ Former Russia
6 South America/ Central and South America
7 Middle East/
(God’s number) Israel , Middle East, North Africa south of the Mediterranean, Egypt, the Arabian Desert
8 Central Africa Central Africa
9 India/ India and the South East Islands
10 China/ China
The largest territory is NO 5; Russia and the most populated NO 10 China. The logistics of such an endeavour is mind boggling, and the idea is to control the world.:
1 Food supply
2 Energy supply
3 Economy
4 Military (armies)
5 Political Institutions
6 Religious Institution
7 World Education etc…
It can already be seen that under the umbrella of the United Nations that the North American and European armies can and will be used as a world’s security police. Others United Nations countries are now falling into place to help and to do the same type of things. We presently have a striking example of the Gulf war in the Middle East.
With today’s computer technology and fibre optic cables, it is possible to catalogue and control the economical resources of each country, as well as, the movement of each of their citizens. The mass computerization of each person, as well as, the food production industries, and all of the natural resources, will no doubt give the world leaders a control never achieved before on this scale.
The dream of the control of the world shared by Napoleon, Hitler, the Greek, the Persians, and the Roman Empire are now coming true under the guidance of secret societies and money manipulation on a worldwide scale. It is a known fact by the religions of the world that Christianity and the Jewish nation are the only stumbling blocks to the full control of the planet.

michaelwachta: I don’t think their goal is to destroy the (still mostly non-existant) Iranian nuclear capabilities. Like 9/11, WMDs and al-qaeda nuclear proliferation is just another excuse for military/political control of the region, and that requires regime change and military presence in Iran and other nations not yet incorporated into the american empire.
And there is no such thing as a “surgical strike” no matter how much they might try to sell that absurd notion to get support for military action. Iran is not likely to sit back and watch quietly while being bombed, the risk of escalating violence is pretty big.
Any iranian retaliation against Israel and the surgery becomes slaughter, the strike turns into war. Attacks against Iran might also lead to escalated conflict on the west bank, the turks marching into northern Iraq and other nasty business. There are also some pretty big players on the world scene having huge investments in Iran. They might not like it if the US tries to steal it from them.
This is worrying.
I used to be into conspiracy theories, but then sort of left them alone concluding that when it comes to information, anyone body releasing information with a vested interest can place their own spin on that information…
I’ve just come across GNN recently and the people here seem to be portraying a fair view (although I still am, and will always be, a cynic) and Im enjoying reading the articles on the site and in particular the comments.
My post was really about the ‘conspiracy theories’. It seems we have at least one or two ‘believers’ here…I can see that in some cases there is evidence that is very hard not to believe, but I still am not convinced…
Final thought, however, relates to the Pope who mentioned “New World Order” in his speech recently (which is what led me to this website) and that sort of set my alarm bells ringing…
Anyway, some response/comments would be appreciated, but is by no means necessary.
Yours, concerned, conflicted and confused. V.
Virtuous,
Click this and watch my Dan Quayle Video production
yeah, suck’em in while they’re still fresh, eh? LOL
we need a warning label or disclaimer for your ass
after you watch his video, you can join the militia and protect the white race
LOL
just kidding, lest you mistake my facetiousness for seriousness.
Regarding conspiracy theories, you can’t avoid them, they are everywhere. What you have to do is try to figure out wich ones are more representative of the “real world”.
From my point of view it is clear that large parts of the US government, in a sort of fascistic relationship with US corporations are striving towards global economic, military and cultural domination and an important step is control of resources and territory in the middle east. This is of course a conspiracy theory, as it would require some sort of conspiring.
Another rather absurd (though popular) conspiracy theory, wich in my opinion is very much proven faulty, is the one about 19 muslim men hijacking airplanes with box cutters without anyone noticing and then pulverizing 3 huge buildings by flying into 2 of them. There are so many obvious errors in the explanation of this theory that it should gain very little credibility. Many other recent terror-activities also has credibility problems with the official conspiracy theory, ie more often than not there is no evidence provided at all. Still, it is often presented as the only truth and anyone disagreeing is a looked upon as a conspiracy-nut.
This theory of 9/11 extremists is part of the greater conspiracy theory that there is a global muslim fundamentalist network with terrorist cells who are trying to attack america and the entire western world of ideas. This conspiracy theory is very much without proof despite extreme measures such as heavy surveillance, torture, war and the abolition of the judicial system, and in my view it is mostly false.
The conspiracy theory is originating from the failed muslim extremist movement that had some unsuccessful bloody revolutions in north africa a decade ago. In the need of a foe the movement was brought back to life, though mostly in peoples imagination, by right wing extremists of the neo-con kind, and thus that is yet another conspiracy theory. This is the conspiracy theory of government officials inventing the war on terror out of thin air, including the creation of very real terror-attacks, for personal and corporate financial gain, to reduce civil liberties and increase governmental power towards authoritarianism as a part of a struggle for greater global domination. After long review, this seems plausible to me. Of course, I could have been lied to or manipulated, maybe i’m just a stupid sucker who unconsciously filters my information and gets to this conclusion simply because i like to dislike authorities. Either way, that’s how everybody does it.
Well, Virtuous, this might not have been the sort of reply you wanted, but take it or leave it.
Cheers!
concerned, conflicted, and confused people are the perfect candidates for hate groups.
the internet is full of recruiters.
blame the Jews, they will tell you.
but you will not listen, will you?
because….
because you are smarter than that
i hope
Well, I might add that I don’t give much credit to the more spectacular NWO/Illuminati conspiracy theories that often emphasize some sort of ancient far reaching cult of the elite, or sometimes even men with alien lizard-blood trying to take over the world. Sure, extreme capitalism is an important factor in giving power to those who wield it, but a club of bankers conspiring to divide the world in 10 regions under a world government? To me, this is only a sign of a vivid imagination.
However, a new world order is without doubt appearing, as the bipolar world of the cold war has crumbled and a new unipolar US-dominated world order has begun to form. Unfortunately it so far doesn’t seem like one based on sound values and I hope it will soon be replaced by some sort of (regional) multipolar order based on cooperation istead of intimidation.
daji – the conspiracies contain at least a grain of truth
it’s when people try to pin it on a single religion or ethnicity that it goes too far.
a Zionist conspiracy? very likely
a Jewish one? nice try, but no thanks
How ‘bout the Luciferian Conspiracy?
Educate Yourself about the Elimination of all Religons through World Domination?
oh, of course!
If WWIII started im sorry but ill be fighting against the Bush regime…
Sure, a grain of truth must be found in any conspiracy theory worth the name, and I’m sure they all sound reasonable to the initiated believer, just as mine does to me but seem unbelievable to many others. I didn’t mean to dismiss anyones believes, just saying I personally don’t have much faith in the disection of ancient cult symbols or in blaming the bankers, the zionists, the muslims or any group.
I see it more as a problem of structure. The extreme-capitalist economic structure in conjunction with dysfunctional democracy creates opportunities for some twisted rich people to savage the world for even more money and power. They do it because they can, and they can because they are part of a complex relationship between ideologies and social, military, economic and political structures, most of wich are in great need of change.
It’s all a big mess, and no group of bankers, zionists, muslims or neo-conservatives is running the show or will ever be able to. This doesn’t mean the the merging of all the elements doesn’t lead to a, perhaps not outspoken but still very powerful, trend towards, for example, american global domination.
Well, this is getting a little too abstract and off topic. I’m off to bed.
relevance bump. considering the items in the summary (if you’re reading this in the forum, go to the top and go to the headline) this is a very scary scenario. i’m sure IF2 is excited. it’s his dream come true.
Yes it would be, however it will never happen. The religious fanatical regime of Iran, yes the far left likes religious fanatical regimes when they help promote their fundamental far left view of the universe, will crumble on its own soon.

This is a statement in the same category as “The Iraqi’s will welcome us with open arms and hearts”
both are at best disillusioned hopefull thinking
Mordechai Vanunu: Israel preparing to use nuclear weapons against Iran:
Each and every nuclear bomb is a Holocaust in itself.
It can kill, devastate cities, destroy entire peoples. The first rumors of Israel working on its own nuclear bomb arose back in the mid-1950s, when the Jewish state’s scientific institutions started serious nuclear physics research. But only in 1986 did the rest of the world find out the real scale of Israel’s work on nuclear weapons, thanks to Israeli nuclear scientist Mordechai Vanunu. With the assistance of Irish journalists Sean O’Carroll and Maria Escribano, we have managed to interview Israel’s most prominent dissident. Mordechai Vanunu told us about the threat of a nuclear catastrophe hanging over the Middle East.Question: You say that Israel already has nuclear weapons. Iran is on its way to acquiring them. And these two countries regularly exchange threats about bombing each other. How likely is a nuclear conflict in the Middle East?
Mordechai Vanunu: All I can say is this: the Israeli government is preparing to use nuclear weapons in its next war with the Islamic world. Here where I live, people often talk of the Holocaust. But each and every nuclear bomb is a Holocaust in itself. It can kill, devastate cities, destroy entire peoples. The Israeli Defense Ministry has long had a nuclear arsenal. Israeli intelligence tried to keep the existence of this arsenal secret from the outside world, but fortunately did not succeed. Nevertheless, they are still trying to silence me – even now, after seventeen-and-a-half years in prison.
Question: Do you know how many nuclear bombs Israel has?
Mordechai Vanunu: When I worked at Dimona, nuclear materials were already being produced there – plutonium, lithium, tritium, and others. Enough to make ten nuclear bombs per year. In other words, starting from 1985, Israel has over 200 nuclear warheads by now.
Question: Why did you decide to speak out in 1986?
Mordechai Vanunu: I simply could not help it. Incidentally, now the Western countries, including the US, that condemn Iran for its intention to destroy Israel should condemn themselves first of all. It were they that gave nuclear technologies to the Israelis and helped them to build the center in Dimona where the atomic bomb was created, although the Israeli government did not recognize this fact.
(...)
Question: Israel and Iran are on the threshold of nuclear confrontation now. Is nuclear apocalypse inevitable in Middle East?
Mordechai Vanunu: No doubt, the main reason for this confrontation is the Palestinian problem. For many decades Palestinians have been living in occupation like in prison. They will never stop fighting and sacrificing their lives for the sake of liberation.
Question: But this is not a justification for terrorism and statements similar to those made by the President of Iran when he promised to “wipe Israel off the map”?
Mordechai Vanunu: Killing Palestinians, including civilians – demolishing their houses and pushing people into ghettoes – isn’t that terrorism?
