Summary:

Paul expressed his hope that finally some conservatives are waking up to the fact that the Bush administration is a trojan horse, especially after arch-liberal Harriet Miers was chosen by Bush to supposedly move the Supreme Court to the right, even though her record is atrocious and she has been involved in the past covering up for the Bush crime family’s activities

Ron Paul says indictment story is far more damaging than media is portraying, avian flu martial law provisions aimed at gun confiscation

Congressman Ron Paul has accused the Bush administration of attempting to set in motion a militarized police state in America by enacting gun confiscation martial law provisions in the event of an avian flu pandemic. Paul also slammed as delusional and dangerous plans to invade Iran, Syria, North Korea and China.

Ron Paul represents the 14th Congressional district of Texas. He also serves on the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, and the International Relations committee.

Paul appeared on the Alex Jones show yesterday and raised some interesting points about the possibility of imminent indictments of top Bush administration figures.

“I think there’s a lot more excitement coming and it’s not going to be good for the Republicans,” stated Paul.

“The things that I hear have to do with Karl Rove and Abramoff and that’s much much worse than anybody would believe and it involves DeLay as well.”

“And that type of an indictment will be much more serious than the indictment of shifting campaign funds around…..there’s some political infighting which could make that really interesting.”

On the subject of the police state, Paul stated,

“If we don’t change our ways we will go the way of Rome and I see that as rather sad…..the worst things…

i’d take him more seriously if he appeared on the daily show.

after alex jones called noam chomsky a “ new world order shill “ , i stopped listening to him.

Seriously, you think they’ll invite him?

I heard that AJ episode where he ripped Chomsky. I always thought he was a rightwing blowhard prone to making wild and unsubstantiated claims (like “there are more gun deaths in Austraila than in the US”) but there was something about his style I found intriging. Maybe it was his callers (The foot soldiers of rightwing populism). I stopped listening that day as well. I just realized I was wasting my time thinking that I had anything in common with anything the radical right (and don’t fool yourself about this guy) was going to organize around. Sometimes you hold your nose and get into bed with people on issues, but you don’t pretend that they are ultimately on-side . Same definately goes for Ron Paul.

One thing I do agree about is preparing ourselves. Water, food, lawyers, guns and money.

I think that anarchist / leftist have more in common with libertarians than y’all are allowing. A police state sucks just as much for right wingers as for left wingers. Was “Communist” Russia “right-wing” or “left-wing”? Was Stalin “right” or “left”? The “right” wing has been building a soviet-style totalitarianism in America for decades (the only difference being that it is a “two-party” totalitarianism); the instrument of control has been the corporations. Think about it… WalMart is the nation’s largest employer… every town in America has nearly identical suburban rings… wages are being controlled… the media is in the control of 3 or 4 conglomerates… even the internet is subject to corporate control. The webiste from which this article is reprinted was recently censored by one of this “free” nation’s top Internet Service Providers (Road Runner Cable, a Time Warner Company)

So, Bryan, Casual, I think we should worry less about the shibboleths of “right” and “left.” No one is asking you to give up your political heart or convictions, but certainly, Paul is right that the Bush administration is a kind of Big Government “trojan horse,” at least if “Big Government” means a proto-totalitarian state. Give him props for that.

There is one thing I disagree with him on, though: Harriet Miers is far from an “arch-liberal;” she is a neo-conservative fundamentalist Christian. There is absolutley no doubt that her conversion to the Republican party was and is authentic, and there is no doubt that her religious affiliation is to the most conservative and virulent form of American fundamentalist evangelicalism. My concern is, and Paul’s should be, that while sitting on the Bench, she will gladly sit by and watch, meaning she will quietly cast her vote to bring about, the creation of a truly totalitarian America.

Anarchists are really just friendly libertarians… :-P
