The Police State Is Closer Than You Think
These new “seize and hold” powers strip the accused of the protective aspects of law and give rein to selectivity and arbitrariness. No warrant is required for arrest, no charges have to be presented before a judge, and no case has to be put before a jury. As the police are unaccountable, whoever is selected for arrest is at the mercy of arbitrariness.

Police states are easier to acquire than Americans appreciate.
The hysterical aftermath of September 11 has put into place the main components of a police state.
Habeas corpus is the greatest protection Americans have against a police state. Habeas corpus ensures that Americans can only be detained by law. They must be charged with offenses, given access to attorneys, and brought to trial. Habeas corpus prevents the despotic practice of picking up a person and holding him indefinitely.
President Bush claims the power to set aside habeas corpus and to dispense with warrants for arrest and with procedures that guarantee court appearance and trial without undue delay. Today in the US, the executive branch claims the power to arrest a citizen on its own initiative and hold the citizen indefinitely. Thus, Americans are no longer protected from arbitrary arrest and indefinite detention.

In case of global human-led disaster, pull the trigger.........

hmmm…i know i hate bush and stuff…
but do you really think a “ police state “ is good for the economy? would rich white slave masters risk all their wealth locking up all it’s citizens with a different opinion?
since we’re at war with two countries and quite a few others covertly, do we even…logistically speaking…have enough bodies to police America?
could a govt so incompetent dealing with two hurricanes really deal with the real storm, the american people?
i think not
I’m way ahead of you HyperT. Check out one of my recent blog entries.:
Ethnic cleansing of African-Americans being planned by U.S. Government, Bush?

Is easier to deal with people when you can do whatever you want (just look at the nazis)

some things i think you might consider…
part of the failure of the ‘truth’ movement, and a big part of the reason the movement gets ridiculed, imo, is because of a fundamental lack of good understanding of the real situation. there will be no “white slave masters” because it isn’t really a race-based thing. its a class-based thing.
in fundamental american terms, capitalism cannot maintain artificial barriers to growth. racial discrimination means less profits, less growth.
to sell the idea of a future with white slave masters makes it impossible for other people more resistant to the truth to believe in such obvious clichés. but they are out there and they’re slowing down the process.
economies are controlled by their markets. whatever the market, represented by it’s biggest consumers, wants the economy to be, it will be. our relative state (prolls) is determined on the amount of servicing the rich want. when and if they become too uncomfortable with us, they can lock the lot of us up and it won’t make a bit of difference. besides, they already have: it’s called a drive-thru!
in this kind of police state you don’t need a lot of bodies to police it. that job has been contracted out to the makers of ritalin, prozac and birth-control pills. the people of germany knew exactly what their exalted fuehrer was doing in the name of his reich. people can get twisted enough with a little help and do the job of policing themselves. the mainstream, or conglomerate, media has fallen right into lock step.
i’m not so sure that this government is all that incompetent. it’s possible, but i think it has more to do with running the country with a clear agenda, and that includes exclusions like hurricanes and floods (read: listless, poor black people who should be serving in iraq).
besides, the end result will be a more historically picturesque, more upper white-middle-class new orleans built by disney. how long did new york close down? indeed, the rich were much more motivated to, fix at any cost, the core of their machine. new orleans was mostly filled with poor black people; that being the top two groups predominately not being in the rich group.
you can be one, not the other. poverty is the new race. you can be black and be the secretary of state in the united states. just don’t be poor, of any colour.
orwell’s police state was a reality as well as psychological in 1984. some people in the story just lived as if nothing was askew. others fought pitched battles to conceal the inner war raging within them for fear of betraying thought-crimes.
in some ways, the most resistance to the truth comes from people when they are able to trivialize the very real changes that are occurring with cartoon notions of city-sized concentration camps and robotic storm troopers on every corner interrogating every passerby.
but as we all line up behind these electronic fish bowl’s and live our lives, BROADCAST our lives, while creating autobiographies of credit card and interact transactions, passing by an increasing number of cameras, driving into work in your on-star equipped gm vehicle, scanning your way in and out of your office, don’t you ask yourself if you aren’t already locked up?
depending on how seriously you take your ballot, at some point you should start getting concerned when your franchise to vote has been turned into a roll-call, to see who lined up where.
too late. you’re already there.
