Why Iran Will Lead To World War 3
At present, there is no wiggle room in the world’s oil supply for massive disruptions and most experts are predicting shortages in the 4th quarter of this year. If the administration’s war on Iran goes forward we will see a shock to the world’s oil supplies and economies that could be catastrophic. That being the case, a report that was leaked last week that Dick Cheney had STRATCOM (Strategic Command) draw up “contingency plans for a tactical nuclear war against Iran,” is probably a bit of brinksmanship intended to dissuade Iran from striking back and escalating the conflict. It makes no difference. If Iran is attacked they will retaliate; that much is certain. It is always the mistake of extremists to misjudge the behavior of reasonable men; just as it is always the mistake of reasonable men to mistake the behavior of extremists. We should not expect the Bush administration to make a rational choice; that would be a dramatic departure from every preceding decision of consequence. The President of the United States always has the option of unleashing Armageddon if he so chooses. Normally, however, sanity prevails. When the bombs hit the bunkers in Iran; World War 3 will be underway.

The facts about Iran’s “alleged” nuclear weapons program have never been in dispute. There is no such program and no one has ever produced a shred of credible evidence to the contrary. That hasn’t stopped the Bush administration from making spurious accusations and threats; nor has it deterred America’s “imbedded” media from implying that Iran is hiding a nuclear weapons program from the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency). In fact, the media routinely features the unconfirmed claims of members of terrorist organizations, like the Mujahedin Klaq, (which is on the State Depts. list of terrorist organizations) to make it appear that Iran is secretively developing nuclear arms. These claims have proved to be entirely baseless and should be dismissed as just another part of Washington’s propaganda war.“As President Bush scans the world’s horizon there is no greater potential flashpoint than Iran, the President and his Foreign Policy team believe the Islamic regime in Tehran is actively pursuing nuclear weapons.“ – Chris Wallace, FOX News
Sound familiar?

i am enjoying deploying the semi-new “related items” function, it was a great idea
LOL, the only problem with your WWIII prediction. You need two sides to wage war on that scale. Iran is not a military threat to the US. I guess they are a storehouse of Ismo-boomers, but beynd that, they really aren’t a serious threat.
“Iran has no nuclear weapons program. This is the conclusion of Mohammed el-Baradei the respected chief of the IAEA. The agency has conducted a thorough and nearly-continuous investigation on all suspected sites for the last two years and has come up with the very same result every time; nothing.”
Thank god for lies. They lubricate American foreign policy. Or is that the blood that lubricates it…
though i may agree with Mike in this case, you should not mistake the views of the authors of headlines i post as being congruent with my own, IF2 – P.S. didn’t you say you were leaving GNN? i hope not. you would be missed LOL
What is also troubling is the fundamental Christian’s belief of Armagedon. It is a very twisted view and having George “I have God’s Mandate” Bush in office is even more alarming. No one can deny the power that these disciples of ignorance have gained in the United States. Billy Graham, Bush’s religious adviser, has stated that we are living in the end of days.
According to their delusions, this is when Israel will take control of all the land between the Nile and the Euphrates (it is their biblical mandate). Another piece of the prophecy is the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple where the Islamic holy site is in Jerusalem. Obviously this would not sit well with the Muslim population of the world. Then we have Russia invading Israel as the final minute ticks toward the end.
Once all the prophecies have been fullfilled and the Israelites are mostly destroyed, God will come down to bring peace on earth. All the good christians will then float into heaven during Rapture. I shit you not.
So it kind of makes sense why these “good chrisitans” are pro-war. It also explains why they support Israel, a religious state based on Judaeism. Judaeism doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ, the center piece of Christianity. Normally this would be anathema to the Christians. Of course, Israel is more than happy to take all the money they receive from the United States (I’m not implying that all the money Israel recieves is purely based on a religious agenda).
The fundamentalist christians also believe that the UN, the league of nations, is the embodiment of the anti-christ and should not be trusted. What better person to have in the UN than Bolton. If you follow world events, you can see how this could become a self fullfilling prophecy, sans God coming down to clean up the mess.
To the mentally deficient member of GNN, you are correct that a World War would not be the gang rape that is going on in Iraq. With Iran you also have China and Russia involved. China has signed a huge oil deal with Iran in the past year. With hundreds of billions of dollars at stake, I don’t think they would be very keen having Iran invaded. With Russia you have military cooperation with both Iran and China.
They are now claiming that the new ‘shaped charges’ that are being deployed against US forces in Iraq are being produced in Iran. It is likely that Iran does support factions of resistance in Iraq, much like the US supported the Mujahideen in the Afghan-Soviet war. The Soviets knew who was fighting a proxy war with them but I don’t recall the USSR threatening the US over it’s role.
Peace.Iran is not a military threat to the US. I guess they are a storehouse of Ismo-boomers, but beynd that, they really aren’t a serious threat.
i am so going to quote you on that…
well, actually. hopefully i never have to… but i hope you see my point.

Actually they are. Unlike Iraq which had suffered over a decade of sanctions and bombings the Iranian military is in intact. The US military meanwhile is vastly weakened and unable to even complete it’s mission in the two theaters of operation it has going. Attacking Iran would also alienate the Shiite population in Iraq meaning we’d essentially lose that base as an operating zone. Given the recent issues with Turkey and the condemnation against our close work with Uzbekistan that makes for a tricky proposition. Meanwhile Iran has the homefield advantage and a number of friendly allies nearby (Iraq, India, Russia).
Israel has openly said they don’t have the airpower to conduct a raid and knock out Iranian nuclear plants like they did with Iraq.
The remaining option, a nuclear strike, won’t be employed because Iran is a major exporter of Oil and the US economy would crumble with any significant disruption to the supply now that the margin is so thin.
but for all those reasons I doubt the US will do more than bluster at Iran. We simply aren’t in a position to take on Iran much less North Korea. In fact we aren’t even in shape to whip the wayward south american countries into line.
