Intelligence Chief to Retain Personnel Powers
I think I’ve tried to bring this up several times, but Negroponte will be here AFTER Bush and his cronies leave.
The new consolidated agency is setting the stage for a new “Hoover” to control the “views” of the politicians through blackmail, and blacklist those that don’t comply.
This is the most undisscused threat facing your country, and no one is questioning it!!!

In a victory for the new director of national intelligence, John D. Negroponte, the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee dropped a demand on Thursday that his panel have veto power over Mr. Negroponte’s personnel decisions.
The chairman, Representative Duncan Hunter, Republican of California, had previously insisted that his committee not only be consulted about personnel transfers from one agency to another but also have the authority to block them when they involved Department of Defense employees.
But in a meeting on Thursday night, Mr. Hunter said, Mr. Negroponte convinced him that such a provision would not be necessary.
“He gave me his word that he would meet personally with me about any personnel changes involving D.O.D. personnel and take very seriously any objections I raise,” Mr. Hunter said. “To me, that’s better than changing the language in the law.”
Mr. Negroponte’s office released a statement confirming that the intelligence chief had called on Mr. Hunter and adding, “From our point of view, the meeting was very satisfactory.”
The dispute over Mr. Negroponte’s powers had held up the annual intelligence authorization bill. Mr. Hunter said the agreement would permit the bill to go to the House floor for a vote, possibly…
