"Working together, we can change the world." India PM Manmohan Singh. The Far East is uniting, and they'll oppose American expansionism.

BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhuanet) — China and India have agreed to establish a “strategic and cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity” between them, according to a joint statement signed by premiers of the two countries in New Delhi Monday.

The statement, signed by visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, said that the two premiers agreed that China-India relations have now acquired a “global and strategic character.”

Wen is paying an official visit to India from April 9 to 12 at Singh’s invitation, the last leg of his four south Asian nation tour which has also taken him to Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

“The leaders of the two countries have, therefore, agreed to establish a China-India Strategic and Cooperative Partnership for Peace and Prosperity,” the statement said.

“Such a partnership is based on the principles of Panchsheel, mutual respect and sensitivity for each other’s concerns and aspirations, and equality; provides a sound framework for an all around and comprehensive development of bilateral relations based on mutual and equal security, development and prosperity of the two peoples; and contributes to jointly addressing global challenges and threats,” the statement said.

In the joint statement, the Indian side reiterated that it recognized the Tibet Autonomous Region as part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China and that it did not allow Tibetans to engage in anti-China political activities in India.

Of course one can understand the desire of these emerging global powers to reconcile and cooperate for their own prosperity and regional stability. One can understand also India’s and China’s impulse to unite in the face of what they probably consider undue American geo-political influence in Asia. Still, it is poignant to read that India, one of Tibet’s last, best friends, is essentially abandoning the the principle of a “free” Tibet. I suppose it was inevitable, but it’s definitely another nail in the coffin.

Yes, on of Tibet’s friends. The Tibetian government in exile, the Kashag, resides in India. (In Dharamsala, a village in the Himalayas.)

This may change. Running a government in exile could most easily be termed an anti-Chinese political activity. I can not think of any politik way for India to allow them, the Kashag, to continue.

Striking similarities to pre-WW1. We saw powers, normally considered rivals, put their differences aside and work towards a common objective. Specifically, the Britain, France, and Russia alliance, not the “Tripple Alliance.”

I agree with NewWorldOrder.

I foresee China and India building a super highway between the two countries.

This highway will be a road for the military invasion coming. China is going to get its hands on the oil in the Middle East by way of India, then to Iran, then the Humas Pass in the Persian Gulf will be blockaded against the west.

Prophecy warns above the enemies coming from the North and from the East.

Russia and China have a strong alliance, too.
