Summary:

Kudos to Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba. Who could be a better spokesperson against the horror of nuclear weapons than the leader of a city which lost 140,000 of its citizens from the atomic bomb?

Besides urging the next U.S. president to support a proposed ban on nuclear weapons he also announced the launch of a two-year study to gauge the psychological toll of the Aug. 6, 1945, attack in the closing days of World War II.

At a ceremony marking the 63rd anniversary of the blast, the Mayor made the following remark: “We can only hope that the U.S. president elected this November will listen conscientiously to the majority.”

China still waits for an official apology for the Nanjing massacre.

No one is saying Japan is a saint, the Koreans, too, were put through hell during the Japanese occupation.

There is a false impression that using the bomb was a casual affair. It was not. Three admirals and many high ranking officers quit their jobs on the issue.

Lots of soul searching went on. Demonstration … vs controlled media was ruled out. Plus they had no previous knowledge of many consequences.

This is one other case of iconization of WWII victims. Nanjing involved the massacre of 300,000 civilians and 20,000 rapes.

While we keep Germany under the boot of eternal unredeemable sin ... Japan has yet to include accurate account of WWII in it’s history books.

Japan escaped into futurism and we are mesmerized by their superb achievements but there is a lie lying there.
