Tibetan Exiles: 30+ Killed in Chinese Crackdown on Riots
Several regions on this planet have all recently had record-setting demonstrations: the great Gaza ‘escape’, the Burmese protests, the Balkans, Pakistan and now Tibet.
Will the mainstream media seize the opportunity to pressure China by properly covering the Chinese response to increased Tibetan protesting, or will there exist a bias away from truth in favor of calm, ‘positive relations’ in the near-term with China?

China ordered tourists out of Tibet’s capital Saturday while troops on foot and in armored vehicles patrolled the streets and confined government workers to their offices, a day after riots that a Tibetan exile group said left at least 30 protesters dead.
The demonstrations against Chinese rule of Tibet are the largest and most violent in the region in nearly two decades. They have spread to other areas of China as well as neighboring Nepal and India among other countries.
In the western province of Gansu, police fired tear gas Saturday to disperse Buddhist monks and others staging a second day of protests in sympathy with anti-Chinese demonstrations in Lhasa, local residents said. The protests led by Buddhist monks began Monday in Tibet on the anniversary of a failed 1959 uprising against Chinese rule. They turned violent on Friday when demonstrators burned cars and shops. Witnesses said they heard gunshots on Friday and more shooting on Saturday night.
The eruption of violence comes just two weeks before China’s Olympic celebrations kick off with the start of the torch relay, which passes through Tibet.

And now this: Report: 100 dead in Tibetan Violence
China Says Ten ‘Burnt to Death’ in Tibet: Chris Buckley and Benjamin Kang Lim, writing for Reuters, report: “China set a ‘surrender’ deadline after riots in Lhasa that it said killed 10 innocent people, launching a crackdown on Saturday after the worst unrest in Tibet for two decades.” And Jim Yardley, writing for The New York Times, reports from Beijing: “Violence erupted Friday morning in a busy market area of the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, as Buddhist monks and other ethnic Tibetans brawled with Chinese security forces in clashes that brought unconfirmed reports of multiple deaths. Witnesses say angry Tibetan crowds burned shops, cars, military vehicles and at least one tourist bus.” (TruthOut.org)
Chaos in Tibet as protests spread, deaths reported: Protesters in Tibet’s capital burnt shops and vehicles and yelled for independence today as the Himalayan region was hit by its biggest protests in two decades, prompting the Dalai Lama to warn Beijing against using ‘‘brute force’‘.
variable, why did you have to go and put this b.s. comic graphic on this article…?? stuff like this belongs on blogs, not on real news. it degrades our credibility as a republishing site to do what you’ve done here…this just an observation, a mild, constructive criticism and question, not a hateful flame-war trigger!
In conjunction with the 4th of July link
I see the graphic as very appropriate
I wouldn©t worry too much about
Degrading the credibility as a republishing site either somehow
greatest humanitarian disaster of the modern world.
The Chinese might have no choice — It looks like Buddhism is a front for extreme jews. Goldie Hawn (jew) is always banging on about Buddhism, and the Dalai Lama is always hanging about with Hollywood jews and homosexuals pretending to be gay.
