'Panties for Peace' arriving at Myanmar embassies
The campaign started here at Lanna Action for Burma.
“After a day of tri-panty dialogue, deep in the golden triangle due to the popular demand, the panties are back. Make sure your panties reach the intended target, SPDC. You can post, deliver or fling your panties at the closest Burmese Embassy any day from today. Send early, send often!
This is your chance to use your Panty Power to take away the power from the SPDC and support the people of Burma.

This story could prove a litmus test for the media. If it garners a low key response in the fetish-obsessed mainstream media, one could fairly suspect the news about Burma is being consciously downplayed, presumably out of deference to multinational corporate power, not the generals themselves.

Women in several countries have begun sending their panties to Myanmar embassies in a culturally insulting gesture of protest against the recent brutal crackdown there, a campaign supporter said on Friday.
“It’s an extremely strong message in Burmese and in all Southeast Asian culture,” said Liz Hilton, who supports an activist group that launched the “Panties for Peace” drive earlier this week.
The group, Lanna Action for Burma, says the country’s superstitious generals, especially junta leader General Than Shwe, also believe that contact with women’s underwear saps them of power.

Oddly enough, when I first posted this story to headlines, just over 100 versions of it were appearing in Google News. Most were duplicates of the AP story, and there were a handful of rewrites. On visiting Google News, I had to click on ‘organize by date with duplicates included’ to even get a list longer than 15 stories, which was sort of odd I thought. (I use GoogleNews a lot.)
NOW – I can only see 14 stories in total. It seems over 80% of the media sites that posted the story have since taken it down!!!
Why on earth is this happening? Imagine if it was a story about Brittany Spears’ panties going through the mail. It’d probably be on prime time for three days in a row.
What if they had a revolution and everyone covered their ears and eyes?
Wait…. maybe not. If I enter a fresh search, I can still locate 94 postings.
ALTHOUGH, a single direct search only shows 11 stories initially. I still need to sort by date with dupes included. Notice how the GNN ‘If You Knew’ article comes up in the top few just from the tiny brief included there. (no pun intended)
Just got in my email:
No idea what the second one says, but I guess it’s related to the first one.
Here is a Flash “voting game.” Over 50,000 people have registered their hatred of the Burmese generals by flinging panties at them. You can help right now. Remember, it saps their power.
