Summary:

The fact that New Orleans has not already sunk is a matter of luck. If slightly different paths had been followed by Hurricanes Camille, which struck in August 1969, Andrew in August 1992 or George in September 1998, today we might need scuba gear to tour the French Quarter.

That was written in 2001, in an article about how New Orleans would be sunk if hit by a category 5 hurricane. This was well known. Also well known is that most of Louisiana’s National Guard was committing war crimes in Iraq, not stacking sand bags when Katrina hit. It is also known that Bush and Congress redirected Federal funds away from levies and towards Iraq and tax-cuts for the wealthy.

It is now alleged that Bush actually knew the levies were cracking and would fail hours before it happened, and didn’t tell anyone.

Bush Knew the Levies Would Break: Chief LA Hurricane Expert

It’s been two years. And America’s media is about to have another tear-gasm over New Orleans. Maybe Anderson Cooper will weep again. The big networks will float into the moldering corpse of the city and give you uplifting stories about rebuilding and hope.

Now, let’s cut through the cry-baby crap. Here’s what happened two years ago – and what’s happening now.

This is what an inside source told me. And it makes me sick:

“By midnight on Monday, the White House knew. Monday night I was at the state Emergency Operations Center and nobody was aware that the levees had breeched. Nobody.”

The charge is devastating: That, on August 29, 2005,

the White House withheld from the state police the information that New Orleans was about to flood. From almost any other source, I would not have believed it. But this was not just any source. The whistle-blower is Dr. Ivor van Heerden, deputy director of the Louisiana State University Hurricane Center, the chief technician advising the state on saving lives during Katrina.

I’d come to van Heerden about another matter, but in our talks, it was clear he had something he wanted to say, and it was a big one. He charged that the White…

And still, no New Orleans residents are strapping bombs to themselves/hefting rifles and visiting the White House?

No offense guys, but what does it take?

Truthcansuk @ 08/29/07 10:11:54

Remember guys, this shlock-formation is just associate with the world of the far left. It is constructed from tid-bits truths, half truths, distortions and lies, cleverly packaged to validate anti-Bush political views.

Don’t confuse it with the real world which does requires rigor and response.

Food and water could have easily been air dropped into New Orleans from C-130’s, easing the suffering and providing physical and emotional support for the survivors of this disaster in the same manner as had been practiced for refugees fleeing from U.S. bombardment, Afghanistan being one recent example.

Instead the air was full of “news” helicopters reporting the “looting” and chaos in the streets.

The city, which led the nation in murders per capita in 2006, is on track to do the same this year, according to data presented for April through June.

The report shows a 14 percent increase in murders and 44 percent leap in armed robberies for the first half of 2007 compared with the same period in 2006.

Crime has gotten so out of hand that Louisiana National Guard troops continue to patrol streets and the U.S. Justice Department has taken on a bigger role in fighting street crime, one that had largely been left to the city before Katrina.

Hitla, just watch “Surviving Katrina”.

When I read the title I had the image of a political cartoon where Bush is standing on a balcony pissing on a Mardi Gras parade flash to mind…

It looks like he’s flipping the bird to me, but I’m just a confused far lefty.

The important thing is that:-

A) the people who died don’t count.

B) the ‘right’ people are going to make out like bandits in the following land-grab.
