Summary:

Mr. Chen found a summons in his mailbox listing his punishment—30-day fine of 20 Euro (approximately US$27) per day or 20 days detention.

The Munich attorney general filed this accusation of Mr. Chen, “You have transgressed against [diplomatic] immunity by having used placards and banners as a means to raise awareness; the placards and banners’ themes have dramatized unlawful removal of organs.”

Chen and his accomplices were, of course, sitting across from the Chinese Consulate. Apparently, foreign diplomats in Germany have “a right to be exempt from displays of differing opinions and value judgments,“ and “This remains in effect, even though the value judgments and accusations are valid.

As to validity, the story cites the untouchably credible Matas and Kilgour report on organ harvesting, and we can assume Chen did as well. The report was widely covered upon its release but has been soundly ignored since. As Epoch Times says, it is a secret everyone knows.

They meditated in front of a banner displaying a message and illustrations. It hung on a garden wall on Munich’s Romanstrasse, a quiet residential area with few pedestrians. The Chinese consulate is located across the street.

On July 20, 2006, several Munich residents held a commemorative event to recognize members of the Falun Gong movement who have already been persecuted for seven years.

These people wanted to raise an awareness not merely of the incidents of torture under the persecution, but also for the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners who are considered living organ banks incarcerated in various centers, detention facilities, forced labor camps, and prisons. These practitioners are liable to have their organs removed on demand while alive and are then immediately cremated to destroy the evidence.

what connection does epoch have to the falun gong? whenever i see an article about them it’s usually from epoch, and has a favorable slant.

a_pretty_rainbow @ 04/30/07 20:08:20

Down with the PRC nightmare. Stalin’s children.

Good question about Epoch. I’ve been meaning to look into that myself. A poster on a Taiwan BBS I participate on told me he considered Epoch to be pretty credible. This guy is a die-hard conservative on most issues. He’s really anti-communist, libertarian, and I think for the war in Iraq. So Epoch Times has a broad audience. Maybe it’s about as credible as Fox, but it’s the only source of a lot of reporting that is disfavorable to the communist government in Beijing. (My favorite local daily, Taipei Times is another.)

Wikipedia has a good intro to Epoch I think. I skimmed it just now.

Beagle17 @ 05/01/07 06:26:43

Beagle you need to look into Epoch Times a little more. Epoch Times is paid for and controlled by Falun Gong.

The money trail from FLG leadership and ET can be found in the non-profit declaration forms (Form 990 Part III c):

Southern USA Falun Dafa Association. $10,350 were given to Epoch Times in 2002, $22,700 in 2003, $14,750 in 2004:

Falun Dafa Association of New England. $57,609 were spent on computer and print media, $97,755 in 2003, $116,823 in 2004:

Also, the Falun Gong allegation David Kilgour’s promoting has been discredited by multiple undercover investigations.

As you can see, the hospital Falun Gong accused is partly owned by a Malaysian health care company and is subject to oversight beyond Chinese authority.

bobbyfletcher @ 05/01/07 23:54:24

The fact Epoch Times is owned by FLG is irrelevant. I never doubted that it did. Who cares? Lots of crazy rich guys own lots of media conglomerates, and this is just one little paper.

I’m saying it does it’s job respectably well, often being the only source of information for what actually are true stories. Find me a case of Epoch getting caught printing lies.

Beagle17 @ 05/18/07 13:27:49

Fulan Gong gets very little respect on GNN. I covered this in detail in numerous blogs.

They would rather believe the Chi Comm government than a persecuted non violent religous group.

Nice headline.

HackMkUltra @ 05/18/07 13:35:14

Why are people making this into a religious persecution issue, which most people hear and tune out, and not a “THE CHINESE GOV’T IS KILLING PEOPLE FOR THEIR PARTS!!!“ issue?

Do you really care why they’re doing it?

Truthcansuk @ 05/18/07 18:26:24

Exactly, Truth.
I was reading this in Epoch Times – it’s a story sourced here in Taiwan where I live in fact – and it made me think of this thread, and how the logic seems to run like this:

FLG makes claims its members were anonymously jailed
FLG makes claims its jailed members’ organs were harvested
China becomes the second most prolific organ transport locale in the world
China has extremely short waiting list times
China hasn’t enough executed prisoners to account for all transplants
Pundits say the FLG is a cult, albeit a non-violent one, hardy, har
Therefore China is not guilty of crime against humanity

You hear me? Cult, cult, cult
Christ, I am a fu@king cult. Come follow me and I’ll gladly tell you what’s wrong with you or any other specimen of this sad species. They call it civilization ladies and gentlemen. If you don’t act civil, then you don’t have it. That must be why civilizations fall.
ergo, they get too scared of cults (Hey, think about that one….)

Beagle17 @ 05/19/07 13:12:12

Respects to the FLG.
Here are the organ harvest stories I’ve submitted that still haven’t been voted through the yard:
