"Theater Iran Near Term" (TIRANNT)
The complacency of Western public opinion (including the US anti-war movement) is disturbing. No concern has been expressed at the political level as to the likely consequences of these attacks, which could evolve towards a World War III scenario, with Russia and China siding with Iran. With the exception of the Middle East, the war on Iran and the dangers of escalation are not considered “front page news.” All of which contributes to the real possibility that the war could be carried out, leading to the unthinkable: a nuclear holocaust over a large part of the Middle East. It should be noted that a nuclear nighmare would occur even if nuclear weapons are not used. The bombing of Iran’s nuclear facitlities using conventional weapons would contribute to unleashing a Chernobyl type disaster with extensive radioactive fallout.

Code named by US military planners as TIRANNT, “Theater Iran Near Term” has identified several thousand targets inside Iran as part of a “Shock and Awe” Blitzkrieg, which is now in the final planning stages.
According to the Kuwait-based Arab Times, an attack on Iran under TIRANNT could occur any time between late February and the end of April. This assessment, however, does not take into account the disarray of US ground forces in Iraq as well as the untimely withdrawal of several thousand British troops from the Iraq war theater, many of whom were stationed in Southern Iraq on the immediate border with Iran.
Revealed last April by William Arkin, a former US intelligence analyst, writing in the Washington Post, TIRANNT was first established in May 2003, following the invasion of Iraq.
“In early 2003, even as U.S. forces were on the brink of war with Iraq, the Army had already begun conducting an analysis for a full-scale war with Iran. The analysis, called TIRANNT, for “theater Iran near term,” was coupled with a mock scenario for a Marine Corps invasion and a simulation of the Iranian missile force. U.S. and British planners conducted a…

It’s what DarthCheneyCo has always wanted, and what many Americans want, secretly or openly. They have been building up the enemy since the 91 start of hostilities-which is the administrations ultimate legal basis for the current escalation. What will be the trigger for the Iran assault? Is it just bluster or will they “preemption” it again? Again.
At least elite gangs of the days of yore had the decency to fuck us with lube. Remember the Maine, Lussitania, Pearl Harbor, North Korean invasion, Tonkin, Kosovo…. Something a happy fellow could cling to with pride in the shitstorm of reality. Even Reagan had Nicaraugan Migs to justify war crimes and drug slinging, but the rot was in. Bush warmed us up to preemption with the illegal arrest of stooge Noriega (Due for realease Sept 9 this year!) by killing five or ten thousand Panamanian’s. Then we gave Saddam the green light to take Kuwait and played him and the region. This was the moment of Soviet collapse and hegemonic ascendency. On the old border we strode unquestioned with UN backing and a strong “coalition”. Without any strong support and with a paltry force we close out the piece, stradling the oil and controling the discussion, but burning the midnight oil of good will.
And the American people who do not rise up (me) must be saying, butter us then them. Better we rule and lay waste then let someone else get a leg up and do it, because they would be even worse. Still, how long can we be ruled by a pedophile gang of uncool losers? Yeah, let me eat some sprouts and ponder that.
I wonder when they’ll come up with Operation: Hunt Unilaterally Global Extremists, Destroy Incarcerate Conquer and Kill?
this is gonna go down soon.

Good article. I’m sure the Pentagon has war plans for EVERY country in the world. That’s their job. It’s what they do. I can see the point of trying to crash a plane into the place. I still won’t support a country who attacks another unprovoked, even if I live there. I don’t see the long-term gain in starting WW3 (which will most likely be the case: I can’t see Russia and China standing idly by) for the majority of people who live in the world, however there must be more voices of reason speaking up to prevent this cataclysm.
And I won’t feel bad for any Americans who are killed by people defending their homelands

If shits going down I couldn’t think of a better time to pull troops away from the border. Maybe a heads up call to Blair took place.
The Final Punch: Removing Iran From The New Middle East Equation: The configuration of the New Middle East — as envisaged by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during the Israeli war against Lebanon in July-August 2006 — most certainly has no place for more than one regional power broker, namely Israel.
Cheney Menaces Iran With Military Aggression: Military action against Iran may not have featured in US Vice President Dick Cheney’s keynote speech in Sydney yesterday, but it is certainly on his mind. In two interviews published today—in Murdoch’s Australian and on the US-based ABC News website—he confirmed that the Bush administration was willing to go to war against Tehran on the pretext of halting its nuclear programs.
US Strike Would NOT Destroy Iran Nuclear Sites: Any US attack against Iran could involve thousands of sorties and missile launches lasting weeks, but it still would not eliminate the country’s nuclear program. A strike – something the Pentagon insists is not planned – would be hampered by lack of intelligence on the number and location of nuclear facilities dispersed throughout Iran.

“what many Americans want, secretly or openly.”
Right, it’s exactly what many Americans want. It’s really all they talk about. I can’t buy a subway sangwich without hearing about how much the sangwich artist wants war with Iran.
