Ethiopia calls for international help in Somalia
Ethiopian prime minister Meles Zenawi said today that he was looking for international help:
We cannot carry this burden alone. The international community must step in to help us.
Have they learnt nothing from the Iraq fiasco? Or could it be that this is a choreographed pre-agreed process for letting other forces come into Somalia to keep the Islamic Courts down?
The papers are full of complaints from the U.S. military that they are overstretched so which lucky forces are earmarked for the task?

Ethiopian prime minister Meles Zenawi said that they were expecting help from the international community in stabilizing Somalia.
The Ethiopian military helped the interim government in Somalia retake the country from the Council of Islamic Courts, an Islamist force who took control in June.
Speaking in the Ethiopian parliament Tuesday, Zenawi said: “We cannot carry this burden alone. The international community must step in to help us.” Zenawi also emphasized that his troops were not peacekeepers and it would be too costly to keep them in Somalia in the long run.
“We will stay in Somalia for a few weeks to stabilize peace in the country,” he said.
However, the leader of the interim government in Somalia, Ali Muhammad Gedi, said that Ethiopian troops could stay in the country as long as needed.
