Summary:

With their business ties warming, and “defense” cooperation on the horizon, India and China are leaving little room for the resurgence of Tibetan independence, or that of Ladakh either – one controlled by China, the other by India.

When he arrived at Mumbai, the “autocrat” Hu Jintao was met, not by the state leader nor human rights representatives. Fittingly for the new India of global capitalism, “Hu, who arrived here on Wednesday evening, was received at the airport by Maharashtra’s Marketing Minister Harshvardhan Patil.”

Indian and Chinese governments draw closer, as Tibetans continue to die

MUMBAI: A Tibetan youth attempted self-immolation on Thursday outside a hotel in south Mumbai, where visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao is staying. The youth was protesting against Chinese policies in Tibet, the police said.

The youth, who did not sustain any major injuries, was later whisked away by the police.

Meanwhile, 200 Tibetans began a day-long hunger strike at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai to protest against Hu’s visit.

“Hu Jintao, as head of the Tibetan Autonomous Region in 1989, imposed martial law in Tibet and ordered violent crackdown on peaceful demonstrators, killing thousands of innocent Tibetans”, Phuntok, a member of the agitating group, said.

attempted self immolation? Doesn’t sound like he was trying too hard… the youth of today really need to work harder!

But really though, You guys are such fools to fall for this propaganda!! Lot08 already informed us that the problems in Tibet are Vastly overrated… stop harping on these little issues like an occupation of a foreign country and get back to the real issue! The occupation of a foreign country by the US!!

do i have to pick just one?

I know that now there may be other pressing matters, but It’s not an excuse to ignore a civil rights problem nearly 60 years running. Unless I’m not picking up on some sarcasm here, I don’t think there’s as much propaganda on the issue as you think. The most propaganda is from the Chinese government, trying to hide their atrocities.
