War Crimes: The Case Against Secretary Rumsfeld
Rumsfeld is well aware of the possibilities of war crimes prosecution coming his way, and he’s doing everything in his power to make sure that does not happen. The question is whether or not the international community has the balls to stand up to the United States. And it’s now or never.

In the latest development in a lawsuit filed by the ACLU and Human Rights First against Secretary Rumsfeld, on July 21, 2006, the Secretary reasserted his argument that he is immune from responsibility for acts of torture and abuse committed under his watch. The lawsuit, together with three other suits filed by the ACLU, sets forth the legal basis for holding Secretary Rumsfeld and other high ranking members of the armed services responsible for torture and abuse of nine civilians detained by the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Retired military officers and military legal experts have filed an amicus brief in support of the ACLU’s and Human Rights First’s suit, arguing against Secretary Rumsfeld’s position on the basis that allowing the federal case to proceed would not be an intrusion into matters of national security and military decision-making. Two of the world’s foremost scholars on the international laws against torture and abusive treatment have also filed an amicus brief in support of the lawsuit.

Yah, but that was when the Republicans controlled everything… bwahaha…
What a great post. Thanks. Again. As usual. A million times.
from the wikie, an amicus brief :
Amicus curiae (redirected from amicus brief) is a legal Latin phrase, literally translated as ‘friend of the court,’ that refers to someone, not a party to a case, who volunteers to offer information on a point of law or some other aspect of the case to assist the court in deciding a matter before it.
How old are Rumsfeld & Cheney? Surely it wont be long til nature takes its course and snuffs them out. I don’t drink alcohol very often but I’ll be popping the champers on both of those occasions!
“The question is whether or not the international community has the balls to stand up to the United States.”
Sadly the answer to this question is no, there is simply too much money involved. Look at the way a state like the Republic of Ireland is willing to ignore it’s neutrality and provide an airport to the U.S. to facilitate it’s invasion and ongoing occupation of Iraq. A Clear act of War. The justification given: the value of the U.S. to the Irish economy.
If Rumsfeld is to be held accountable for the gross violations of human rights and torture committed under his watch, we must remember as well the women and childen murdered in the battle of Fallujah with the illegal use of white phosphorus.
Red Cross officials estimated that at least 800 civilians were killed in the first 9 days of the November 2004 assault on Fallujah – an operation originally codenamed Thanksgiving massacre.
The indiscriminate and illegal use of these munitions by American forces prompted the nickname shake and bake because of the effect a cloud of burning phosphorus has on a human body.
As for remorse on the part of Rumsfeld & Company, it is absent.
The “new” U.S. strategy for Iraq:
Lieutenant-General John Sattler, the marine commander of the battle to retake control of Falluja in 2004, is in charge of developing the Pentagon’s new strategy.
Shifty, there is no case against Rumsfeld. He is just a scapegoat of the far left.
“The question is whether or not the international community has the balls to stand up to the United States.”
Are you really failing to distinguish between Rumsfeld and the United States? Not to mention the corporations and the united states and the corporations and donald.
Because, the way I see it, the Corporations are looking to cut their losses and Donald’s being set up for the fall. Yep. That’s what’s coming down the pike.
And you’re right, there IS too much money involved, and it’s the money that’s going down the tubes — due to incredible mismanagement.
And Noddy’s right too. They need a goat. And but “they” is The Right. And it looks like it’s gonna be Donny boy because who’s ever heard of his father and also he’s the only one that the masses can be expected to believe might be anywhere near smart enough.
who’s ever heard of his father
George Donald Rumsfeld, born 10 October 1904, d. September 1974 – the genealogy doesn’t say whether ol’ George died before or after he heard that Gerald Ford had pardoned Richard Nixon on September 8 1974.

If that’s for real, it’s worth a link.

LOL, now that’s a hoot, ya it is an act of war, against the terrorists. We wouldn’t want Erin go Brath to declare war on terrorists and side with the UN sponsored democratically elected majority government of Iraq, now would we?

I love wikipedia – it’s already up on Gates’ bio.
Its a good thing what happened last nite. Finally it feels like you got one of the devil’s lesser demons in the Capitol. Looking foward really to Dems not changing much. They won power not by discussing the REAL issues at hand, but instead focsuing on pretty lame pussy shit that doesnt matter and polarizes the nation.
Is this the end of Neoliberalism, or will the Dems. become an extension of the current policies?
One thing for sure the GOP (government of the powerful) is dead. good. Now rummy steps down. For sure a whole collapse of Karl roves dream of 1000 year republican reich.
but instead focsuing on pretty lame pussy shit that doesnt matter and polarizes the nation

Swiss monkey gland treatments—lol!
guess when the Armed Forces are saying its time for you to go, then its time for you to go, hey nobbinbodywiper?
From Wikipedia: Senate members later queried the nomination for the additional reason that Gates allegedly passed intelligence to Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war.
Jesus… you’d think that this time they could find someone who wasn’t in bed with Saddam in the 80’s…. even if just for posterity.
Well sens, did they really focus on Iraq? or was their more media attention focused to crap like foley?
