Jim Douglass, the author of the article, noted that the MLK conspiracy/lawsuit trial received almost no press coverage, that it should be recognized as the trial of the century and that:

“The seriousness with which U.S. intelligence agencies planned the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. speaks eloquently of the threat Kingian nonviolence represented to the powers that be in the spring of 1968. ”

The King trial can be seen as the trial of the century because it highlights some of the key defining factors of the character of the nearly totalitarian U.S. military/corporate/ organized crime complex:

1. racism in open and secret forms
2. terrorism as a principle action orientation
3. conspiracy as a dominant methodology
4. cover-ups as a routine tactic
5. control of the press through monopoly ownership, rewards of privilege, intimidation and corruption

The failure by the press and the public to control the U.S. ruling class by punishing its military/corporate/organized crime complex functionaries and leaders in the MLK case is the reason that this vicious threat to freedom and democracy has grown more virulent over the past four decades. Appeasement and collusion in the kind of evil that has been demonstrated by the persecution and murder of MLK has helped to enbolden the U.S. thugs in every sphere of criminal activities.

It’s why the working classes have gotten ripped off for trillions of dollars by the prison industry, the S&L’s income transfer racket, the NASDAQ income transfer scheme, the heroine war in Afghanistan, the U.S. caused 9/11 and the oil coveting Iraq war, among other U.S. crimes against humanity. The MLK case provides the critical example that Aristotle would allow may, in and of itself, define an entire character.

No rage, no diatribe, no indictments, no call for punishment against the U.S. system of terrorist oppression, deceit, lies and mass murder can be too strong in light of the evidence of evil apparent in the trial of the 20th century addressed here in memory of Coretta Scott King.
